During the holy month of Ramadan, we go through a transformation of our soul, health, and mind. This one-month fasting can have a positive impact on our life for the rest of the year.
This Year the Ramadan has come in one of the hottest months of the summer. Fasting for longs hours along with lack fluids and hot weather, causes the skin to lose moisture and elasticity, due to this we look dull and tired during Ramadan.
Skin care and right food intake in Ramadan is very important to have a fresh and glowing look for all day long so that you don’t look weird on your family and friends iftaar parties.
Below are the must-have routine and useful skin care tips in Ramadan.
Hydration
Drink 10 to 12 glass of water from iftaar to suhoor. This will keep you hydrated all day. Include buttermilk/ lassi and watermelon Juice at iftaar or suhoor. Buttermilk/lassi helps in maintaining youthful skin. Lactic acid found in buttermilk/lassi boost skin’s texture and thus removing all kinds of blemish and freckles. Watermelon is a great source of free radicals, exclusively in the form of vitamin C, A, and lycopene. Vitamin C helps your body make collagen, a protein that keeps your skin supple and your hair strong. Vitamin A helps in repair skin. Lycopene protects your skin from sunburn.
Intake of right food that makes your skin glow
If you want radiant, healthy and glowing skin in Ramadan, then increase your antioxidant intake and eliminate oily and fried food during iftaar and suhoor. Eat food that is rich in fiber and antioxidants such dates, almonds, berries, dark chocolates, Artichokes, beets, red beans, red cabbage, kale, spinach, cherries, and mangoes.
Don’t over wash
Due to hot weather and fasting, chances are your skin will dehydrate. This can worsen by over washing your face which will lead to dry and flaky skin. To avoid this, you need to cool your skin with a coconut water spray or add lemon/orange, cucumber in water and put them in a spray bottle. Use this multiple times in a day. Store it in the fridge for extra coolness. This will get rid of puffiness and dryness.
Delight your skin
Every day at night clean your face with your cleanser and then exfoliate gently. This will helps clear clogged pores, and your skin feels smoother and radiant. Exfoliating daily also stimulates blood circulation in your face. Rinsing with cold water after exfoliation helps close the pores.
Moisturizing
It is very important to moisturize your skin after your daily skin care. Use a hydrating moisturizer that makes up for lack of water consumption during the day. For Dry skin, use oil-based creams. If you have Oily skin, use a gel-based moisturizer that is high in hydration.
Supplements
After following all the above steps. If you still feel like your skin lack vitamins and nutrition, then take your supplements which contain vitamins and antioxidants. Take Dr. Khilji Faisal Arif’s recommendation on the right dosage of supplements during iftaar and suhoor. Supplement that is healthy for skin contains vitamin C, A, E, as well as selenium and zinc.
